The lessons can all be linked to the National Curriculum and National Strategy requirements and the Schemes of Work objectives. Curriculum and Lesson Planner comes with all the National Curriculum, National Literacy Strategy, National Numeracy Strategy, Foundation Stage Strategy requirements to objective levels. Additionally all the Standards Site Programme of Study objectives are present within the module. It is also possible to edit and add your own objectives, where desired. This enables reports to show curriculum coverage for classes and to highlight any elements requiring attention.
The module works seamlessly with SIMS, Capita Children's Services’ Information Management System, used by 22,000 schools. From the lesson plan, the teacher can log pupils’ grades, attendance, or any behavioural remarks or incidents, which are saved directly into the record keeping banks of SIMS. This ensures that there is no repetition in data entry, and allows for a permanent record of the effectiveness of teaching over the course of the year, or over multiple years.
The plans are accessible to be modified and re-used in future years, or as a valuable reference if a teacher is unavailable and someone must take their class. Teachers with subject responsibilities, Heads of department and senior management staff can create the annual Programmes of Study for their subject areas and it is then possible for individual teachers to copy and amend the lessons for their own groups where desired. It is possible to review curriculum plans, lesson plans or even detailed materials at any time and to analyse the coverage of learning objectives. This supports schools seeking more holistic planning across the school.
